Earth as Muse.

from early childhood, Susannah was drawn towards the healing profession. Initially following in her family’s footsteps, she moved towards a career in medicine.

The world of science, however, left Susannah dreaming of new ways to bring her modality of healing into the world. Her unquenchable curiosity ultimately led her to walk the path of an artist. Although, it wasn’t until her mid-twenties that music established itself in Susannah’s life.

Having always been afraid of her own voice, the discovery of jazz changed everything.

The raw, undiluted sounds of Billie Holiday & Sarah Vaughan began to pour out of her, much to her surprise.

Jazz was the key to her heartsong.

Singing came as a sweet release during Susannah’s times of need. Realising that her ability to hold emotionally rich songs & bring them forth with such gentle vulnerability proved powerful for her & her audiences.

With a beguiling sense of authenticity, Susannah has performed to audiences around the world, never failing to touch the heartstrings of her crowds.

Featured in festivals & clubs alike, Susannah has crafted a vibrant presence in the world of jazz & has worked with some of Canada’s finest musicians.

After releasing her debut album, As The Morning LIght (2018) to great acclaim, 2020 saw a welcome pause & much needed time for reflection.

With a constant desire to move beyond the confines of convention, this new creative era sees Susannah stepping beyond the usual parameters of the song.

Having been drawn to jazz by the shape-shifting nature of improvisation, in 2023 Susannah took this aspect of channelling music to new dimensions.

Part sound-bath, part meditation, part free jazz improvisation, Susannah’s Songs of Stillness performances offer an exciting new way to experience the spiritual depths of music.

These solo performances are live-looped sessions that feature her vocals, as they ride upon the enchanting melodies of her lyre & kalimba.

Created in the moment & unique to each gathering, these events invite the listener to go on their own inner journey with the music.

The audience is free to lie down & bathe in the songs, tapping into the inner wisdom that presents. These journeying songs have had profound effects on listeners.

Susannah’s new album, HEARTH, has been born out of these intentional gatherings.

Crossing genres & defying conventions, Susannah’s music is set to rise upon the crest of this emergent culture of connection.
