Earth as Muse

Born and raised in London, UK, to parents in the medical profession, Susannah Adams took the scenic route to establishing her career in music on the West Coast of Canada.

following in her family’s footsteps, adams was initially drawn to embark upon a career in medicine. However, diving headlong into the world of science left her dreaming of a new way to bring her modality of healing into the world.

It wasn’t until her mid-twenties that music unexpectedly established itself in Adams’ life. Not having yet heard the sounds of Miles Davies’ horn or Billie Holiday’s voice, the discovery of jazz changed everything.

without a musical upbringing, it was much to adams’ surprise that after finding the courage at last to take singing lessons, she soon found herself on the stage in jazz clubs, bars and festivals across southern england.

After cutting her teeth in the UK, Adams then moved to Canada where she re-established her career as a jazz vocalist, going on to work with many of the country’s leading musicians (Oliver Gannon, Miles Black, Ryan Oliver, David Restivo).

Over the past ten years Adams has appeared frequently in local festivals (Victoria Jazz Festival, Rifflandia, Islands Folk Fest) and clubs (Hermann’s Jazz Club, Frankie’s Jazz Club, The Avalanche).

adams released her first album, As the morning light, (2018) to great acclaim. she has been featured on cbc’s hot air and is regularly heard on cbc radio.

her second album, hearth (2024) shows adams’ deep commitment to her creative journey as she elegantly moves beyond the parameters of convention.

In light of these turbulent times, and as a direct response to the environmental crisis, Adams has chosen to direct her creative energy into making music that inspires a new culture of connection.

She will return to the recording studio in 2025.

Stay tuned!
